The Zoo & Labor Day Weekend

The past two weekends have allowed us to have some great family outings. The last Sunday afternoon in August, we decided to go to the zoo. The weather was acutally a little cooler. It was a great time - not too crowded either. We decided to buy a family pass so we can go back anytime this year. Lauren kept asking to go to the reptile house, over and over after every exhibit we left. Finally, it was time to go to see the snakes and other slimy creatures. About half way through she told me she didn't think she likes snakes after all. The next morning, I am trying to catch up on the news and the Fox national news announces they finally found the huge rattle snake that accidently escaped the Atlanta zoo over the weekend. Great - we were wondering around the zoo while a huge rattle snake was at large! The zoo didn't tell anyone the snake had escaped. They found the huge (the picture showed an absolutely huge snake) snake on someone's front porch located near the zoo. They said that whatever the snake bit would have to be amputated. Thankfully, no one was bit, including us!
This past Labor Day weekend was the best weather ...we decided to go to Rock City at Lookout Mountain in Tennessee. Last minute trips are sometimes the best. Keith and I hadn't been there in years, maybe since we were little. It was a really good time to be outside and to spend time together. Lauren and Anna had no fear, of course, when we went across the high bridges and stopped by the overlooks. At one point, Anna was putting her foot on the ledge in an attempt to pull herself up! "If you do that, there will be no more Anna," I told her. She replied, "No more Anna?"
On Labor Day, we enjoyed playing in the park and eating lunch with good friends. We also were able to see my mom and dad and Kevin and Jennifer for dinner! I love being outside on gorgeous days. Thank you Lord for your beautiful creation!
