Lauren's First Day of Kindergarten

Today was Lauren's first day of kindergarten! She had a good day and really likes her teacher. She told me she wanted to write her teacher a note - "I love being in your class Mrs. Lashley." She tried to write it out herself; she actually did a pretty good job for a five year old. I think Lauren will really enjoy her teachers; Mrs. Lashley seems to be a great fit for Lauren. I have been really impressed with her and am so glad Lauren is able to be in her class.
I asked Lauren who she played with today, and if she met some new friends. She told me she played with Amberlie and Cha-Cha. We even had homework tonight. Lauren had to choose three things that represented her - she chose a picture of herself, Anna and Olivia, her American girl book, and her sea shell from Daytona beach. It was fun gathering those things together and asking Lauren why each thing is special to her.
Lauren's school started this past Monday on August 16th. Unfortunately, Lauren came down with the same virus Anna and Olivia had several days prior (Hand, Food & Mouth disease). I thought Lauren be able to bypass it, but...oh well. She is feeling much better and was excited to go to school today.
Last night we read the book The Night Before Kindergarten - very cute poem, Lauren liked it so much she tried to read it by herself (by trying to remember the story). It won't be too much longer before she will be reading for herself! We are so proud of you Lauren - our official kindergartener!
