Burnt Hickory VBX & Father's Day 2010

This past week was Vacation Bible Extreme (VBX, as they now call it!) at Burnt Hickory. Lauren and Anna went and had a great time. It was such a great week for Anna as she is definitely coming out of her "shell," leaning how to interact more with others. Even though Anna was having a good time at VBX, every morning when we dropped her off at her classroom she would lover her head and make a sad face...she does this for a couple of minutes and then she is back to he normal self (she does this at Sunday School too). It is quite the scene...I guess she is trying to make us feel bad because we are leaving her...but it is also kinda funny now, as I know she has a great time anyway. Anna had a great time with her teachers, Ms. Kimber and Ms. Holly, who really helped feel at ease and included. Yesterday at Sunday school, the teacher really noticed a difference in Anna's participation! Lauren also had a great week. She really enjoyed being in the same class as her friend Jack - or as she calls him Jack Cowan (she always says his full name). They both made some cute crafts with their pictures.
We had a lovely Father's Day weekend. Keith took Lauren "on a date" to the VBX closing program at Burnt Hickory on Friday evening. They had singing and life animals since the theme the the week was ranching (Saddle Ridge Ranch). They went to Dairy Queen afterwards for ice cream. On Saturday morning we went to Lake Allatoona for some fishing...we caught several small Brimm. It was muggy and hot, but it was nice to be outside near the water. We had a picnic lunch and gave Keith a couple of his Father's Day presents. Keith opened the other presents Sunday morning when Lauren and Anna brought the packages in our room as we were waking up. Anna said, "Happy Birthday Daddy." Keith got a watch, some shirts, a Georgia hat and a remote control helicoper. Thank you Keith for being a great dad to Lauren, Anna & Olivia. I am so thankful you follow God's plan for your life and ask him to guide you as a father!
